The hlw employment handbook provides a cost effective guide to dealing with the complex requirements of employment law and is backed with a dedicated telephone support line.

The handbook is ideally suited to small and medium sized businesses who do not have in-house HR expertise.

The handbook consists of two guides to employment law and is constantly updated by hlw’s employment team. Subscribers have access to a telephone advisory service and receive invitations to free seminars. The complete package is designed to ensure firms are always aware of the latest legal changes.

The Handbook

Supplied in hard copy or electronically, the handbook comes in two volumes – with separate sections for staff and managers.

The manager’s handbook covers the requirements of modern employment law and includes information on more than 50 previous court and tribunal decisions to guide bosses through everyday situations including disciplinary hearings and employee sickness.

The second part is a model staff handbook, which employers can introduce as part of their standard terms and conditions. Subscribers can also take advantage of a service to tailor the handbook to their own company, reflecting established custom and practice.

Users are able to access electronic versions of the handbook through the hlw Commercial Lawyers website.

The Helpline

Staffed by qualified solicitors, the helpline is a free, unlimited service throughout the first year of subscription. Employers and staff are able to seek further advice on issues covered in the handbook and subscribers are able to call on an ‘ad hoc’ basis for advice on generic employment law issues without charge.

Updating

Throughout the year hlw will provide regular updates following changes in the law. When new legislation comes into effect subscribers will received revised sections in whichever format they normally view the handbook in.

Seminars

The employment department at hlw provide frequent free seminars, to which subscribers are invited. For more details, see the events section of the hlw website.

Subscription Fee

For the first year subscription costs £950 + VAT, reducing to £350 + VAT for subsequent years.
