The Intellectual Property and Information Technology Team advises on a wide range of IP and IT related issues including:-
• General advice and guidance in respect of all intellectual property rights including trade marks, patents, copyright and design rights;
• Reviewing and preparing intellectual property assignments and licences;
• Preparing copyright notices;
• Dealing with infringement and enforcement of intellectual property rights, including claims for passing off;
• Defamation and brand protection on the internet;
• Advising in relation to domain name disputes and “cyber-squatting”;
• Protection of confidential information and databases;
• Guidance and advice on internal email and internet policies;
• Guidance and advice on data protection, privacy policies and electronic marketing;
• Preparing and advising upon software development, support and maintenance agreements;
• Advising on the legislative requirements for electronic trading;
• Preparing terms of use for websites;
• Preparing software licences in respect of bespoke and off the shelf software;
• Advising on acceptance testing procedures and service level agreements;
• Preparing escrow agreements and acting as escrow agents;
• Drafting of web development, hosting, maintenance and support agreements.
